Race to 2027: I'm merging to save Nigeria- Obi opens up

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, hosted the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, a part of warm up for the politics of 2027.

Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), described the May 13th visit with his 2019 vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as honour and privilege.

While detail has been made available by Atiku’s press team, in a swift caption, he wrote, “It was my honour and privilege to host Peter Obi today (Monday, May 13).

Atiku Abubakar had earlier called for a political structure between Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso – former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the PDP to save Nigeria from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former vice president, under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said the new political structure was necessary to prevent Nigeria from sliding into a one-party state.

On 14th November, after hosting National Executive Committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Council Nigeria, the former vice president said, “We have all seen how the APC is increasingly turning Nigeria into a dictatorship of one party. If we don’t come together to challenge what the ruling party is trying to create, our democracy will suffer for it, and the consequences of it will affect the generations yet unborn.”

Peter Obi and his media team are yet to make a statement on his meeting with Atiku as of the time of filing this report. Will Peter obi agree to run as vice presidential candidate of Atiku in 2027 general election? Not likely; if yes, under which political platform?
