Enugu State government said lack of five-star hotel in Enugu was responsible for paucity of international flights and no NBA conference in the state.

 

Enugu State government said the approval for the construction of five-star hotel in the state capital would bridge the gap and improve the economic and tourism sector of the state.

 

Dan Nwomeh, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Peter Mbah, disclosed this in a press release, on Tuesday, May 14.

 

The approved five-star hotel, a 380 rooms by the state Executive Council was awarded to the China Communications and Construction Company.

 

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mrs Ugochi Madueke “said the proposed facility would have tremendous ripple effect on the state’s tourism and hospitality industry and the economy in general.”

Mrs Ugochi “explained that the absence of a five-star hotel in the state was greatly responsible for the paucity of international flights into Enugu and inability of the state to host money-spinning conferences like those of the Nigerian Bar Association.

 

Mrs Madueke told newsmen, “You will agree with me that this will not just boost our economy, but also boost Enugu as the heart of Igboland.”
