Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has described mothers as fount of life in marking Mother’s Day.
President Tinubu praised the Nigerian mothers on Sunday, May 12, being the International Mother’s Day. He said mothers are precious gifts and blessings.
Tinubu further praised mothers as harbingers of life, nurturers of growth and champions of feats of their children.
In a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, President Tinubu said, “I celebrate our mothers, the fount of life, on this special occasion of Mother’s Day.
“This day, as always, reminds us of the precious gifts and blessings that our mothers represent.

“As the harbingers of life, nurturers of our growth, and champions of our feats, they light our paths, comfort us, guide us, and ensure that we get to the gates of destiny.”
Nigeria’s president added, “The sacrifices of our mothers are simply beyond comparison – both for individual families and the nation.
“I salute all mothers and women in Nigeria and around the world on this momentous day.”
The President’s praise of Nigerian mothers on his X handle also received backlash from citizens on the social networking platform.
An X user, Vivial Umukoro, told President Tinubu ” Mothers dey hungry ooooo.”
David Joel Ajeh, asked President Tinubu to revisit some of his policies that were responsible for the current economic hardship faced by Nigerians and mothers. “Amen. Our workaholic president. Keep flying but remember hungry dey oo. Revisit some decisions please,” he wrote in the comment section of Tinubu’s post.
