Mbah announces N15m debate tournament for undergrads, 'corpers'

Enugu State Government has announced N15 million debate tournament for undergraduates and NYSC corps members in the state.

 

Governor Peter Mbah who announced the debate tournament in Enugu on Monday, June 10, said the debate would be a platform for Enugu youths to think critically and discuss social issues that influence culture.

 

Governor Mbah said the debate tournament would feature 37 teams representing all universities in the state and corps members.

 

While the debate is organized by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Culture and Self-Development, Mbah said the N15 million prize would be funded by the state government and private donors.

He added that “it is important to give our young people a platform to voice their opinions and contribute to the society. It is important that they feel heard and understood. One of the best ways to achieve this is through intellectual discourse.

 

“To our young people, this is your time and your turn; the stage is yours. Do your research and think critically; challenge the norms and amaze us with your wits and persuasion. Congrats in advance to the winning team!”
