Former Director-General of Peter Obi/Datti Ahmed Campaign Organization, Doyin Okupe, has told Atiku Abubakar, former PDP presidential candidate, that he stood no chance in the 2027 election.
The former Special Adviser on Media to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said this while reacting to Atiku’s latest political movements to ex-presidents from Northern region and Northern political stakeholders.
Doyin said Atiku’s visit to former president, Muhammadu Buhari, in Daura, Katsina, along with Aminu Waziri Tambuwa – former Speaker House of Representatives and immediate former Sokoto State governor – and other PDP chieftains would not guarantee his victory in the next election.
He said the former vice president’s political consultation was “deft political move” because President Tinubu, a Southerner, from South West region, must complete the eight years tenure of the South.

The former Special Adviser of Public Affairs to ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan, on Saturday, June 22 said, “Atiku, Tambuwal and other PDP stakeholders’ visit to Buhari is a deft political move that can only be decoded by Masters in the game.”
“When it comes to regional interest the North becomes non-partisan. Poser: under what condition will 2027 be considered regional interest by the North?” Doyin asked.
Doyin, a medical doctor by profession, has been accused by supporters of Peter Obi and Labour Party of betraying the former Anambra State governor. Doyin said he worked for Obi’s election in the last 2023 election, but would not sacrifice his long built political relationship by fighting Tinubu.
“I supported Obi with all God gave me bcos we both wanted a southern president, and despite being a celebrated SW political leader. Unfortunately, we lost the election. Another Southerner won. To be fair that mission ended there,” he said. On a national television programme, Doyin said Tinubu has more governance capacity than Obi and Atiku.
