Nigerian football youngster, Maliq Raimi, says he looks up to Napoli frontline player, Victor Osimhen, as his mentor and hopes to play like him in the nearest future.
Raimi, 10, who plays for Step-up Academy football academy in Nigeria, recently showcased his talents during the Laola Cup competition in Hamburg, Germany. Laola Cup is Germany’s most international youth soccer tournament that takes place on the sports facility of the HSV.
This year’s edition had in attendance football academies from Nigeria, England, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Latvia, Estonia, Albania, Turkmenistan, among others.
Raimi, who hails from Kwara State, was born to a Nigerian father and mother in Surulere, Lagos. He caught the attention of many Nigerian football academies after being known for his quickness, dribbling abilities, and eye for goal.
He has already been likened to some of the world’s greatest young talents, and he might be an important member of the Nigerian national team in the future.
A football scout based in Spain, Fútbol Tech agency and his father, Yusuf Raimi, told newsmen after the Laola tournament that during the 2024-2025 temporada, Raimi will kicking off his trials in Spain before the end of 2024.
“He is indeed a talented lad who shuffles between football and education. He loves Tiki-Taka which is the Spanish style of play and he has proven that he sees a future in football,”
