Ebonyi State Governor, Nwifuru Francis, has advised staff of the state’s Ministry of Agriculture to justify their profession on farms.
Governo Nwifuru said this while commissioning tractors purchased for the state-owned farms.
Nwifuru said staff of the ministry are expected to engage in practical farming. This he said was the only way the staff of the ministry could justify their positions in the ministry.

“Staff of the Ministry are expected to go to State farmlands and justify their positions as staff and workers of the Ministry of Agriculture,” Nwifuru said.
He added that the state lands would not be shared to individuals. “Such lands will not be shared to individuals to farm on. The State will make use of them for the collective interest of the people,” he said.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Leo Oketa said the state government was committed to making agriculture the main drive of the state’s economy.
“It is no longer business as usual. According to the Governor, staff of Ministry of Agriculture have to show workings and capacity as Agriculturists.
“This is to further firm up the Governor’s vision to make Agriculture another mainstay of the State’s economy,” Oketa said.
