Enugu State government has announced October 5, for the election across the 17 local government areas.
A press release by Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) encouraged political parties to work according to election guidelines.
“Election guidelines and other details can be collected from the Headquarters of Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) at Independence Layout Enugu,” a statement by Prof. Christian Ngwu, ENSIEC chairman read.

In the last 2023 general election, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost majority of its House of Assembly seats to Labour Party.
Out of the three senatorial districts in Enugu, Labour Party also captured Enugu North, Senator Okey Ezea; Enugu East, Senator Kelvin Chukwu, and left Enugu West for Senator Osita Ngwu of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Out of the 8 House of Representatives seats for Enugu, Labour Party also clinched 7 seats while PDP made way with one seat.
